Started the day with a run to Walgreens; bought two types of sunscreen - 8 Gatorades - 4 Pediatric Electrolyte - 8 bottles of water. By the way, we each brought with us 8 pairs of underwear, 8 pairs of socks. Sam has 6 rackets.
Went to club house - 15 cans of balls - one ball hopper - and reserved two court times on the green clay courts. 50 bucks a day for courts.
Realized once we got to the tournament site I had played a Future's Event here about 7-8 years ago, oh the memories!
Sam keeps quizzing me. When I am going to try and figure out a Laterial Thinking Game for him? (Solve problems through indirect and creative approaches like a flight simulator and the search for directional stability.) Yes, Sam attends a High Tech university. GOD HELP ME!
Now to the tennis ----- Sam is playing these next two weeks on CLAY: Very different from the hard fast indoor courts that he played on as a beginner; also, much different from the hard courts in California. We really focused in on his "Creative Patience" out there today. He is going to be challenged to play longer points and be willing to create openings through variety (spin, change of direction, change of speed of shot, depth, etc...)
And we got green stains on our shoes and socks. Maybe 8 pairs of socks will not be enough.
It's gonna be a very exciting 10 days out here!
Will write more later; got to shower and go eat.....anything you would like to know?
